Looking for that one long-sleeved jersey you find yourself reaching for time and time again? The Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 is exactly that jersey! Warm, soft and, above all, comfortable - the three characteristics a good thermal jersey needs to offer all come together here.
Castelli developed the fabric for a close-to-body fit that is not tight or restrict movement - you can feel the jersey there but it doesn’t hold you back. It is breathable enough to prevent you from sweating, yet warm enough to protect you on a chilly ride. The back pockets are designed to stay firmly in place even when full, without shifting around, and include one separate zipped pocket that can hold items such as your keys or mobile phone. Plus, the jersey's front zip isn’t a cheap component but a full-length YKK Vislon model with a pull-tab that is easy to grip with and without cycling gloves on.
If you mainly cycle in the summer, a thin, unlined long-sleeved jersey is often more comfortable. If you are interested, take a look at the Castelli Espresso 2 LS jersey, which has the same silhouette but not the fleece lining.

Fleece-lined stretch jersey
The inside of the Espresso Thermal 2 men's jersey is softly lined, keeping you nice and warm without feeling heavy. The fabric stretches with you, so the close-to-body fit never feels constricting.
4 back pockets, 1 of which has a zip
The jersey has three open pockets for storing your energy bars, mobile phone or rain jacket, plus a zipped fourth pocket for carrying your keys, money or other small valuables. This way, you can be sure nothing will fall out during a sprint or over bumpy terrain.
YKK Vislon zip
The full-length zip runs from chin to waist and has a large, easy-to-grip zip pull that allows you to quickly adjust ventilation while continuing to cycle, even when wearing thick gloves.
Suitable for:
- Temperatures between 12°C and 18°C - ideal for autumn and spring;
- Longer rides that require large and sturdy pockets.
- Winter rides below 12°C - these require an extra layer or a winter jacket;
- Summer rides above 18°C - in such conditions, a short-sleeved jersey will be more comfortable.
- Wash the jersey inside out at a maximum of 30°C using a sports detergent to keep the fleece lining soft.
- Leave the jersey to air dry; the tumble dryer will damage the lining and affect the elasticity.
- Unzip the collar slightly as soon as you start to warm up during your ride. The full-length zip gives you that freedom without having to stop.
For which temperature range is the Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 cycling jersey suitable?
The Espresso Thermal 2 men's jersey is designed for temperatures between 12°C and 18°C. While the fleece-lined fabric keeps you warm, it prevents you from overheating as the temperature rises.
What is the difference between the Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 and the Castelli Espresso 2 LS cycling jerseys?
The Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 is made of a fleece-lined, warm fabric for rides between 12°C and 18°C. The Castelli Espresso 2 LS is a thinner, unlined long-sleeved jersey, which is more comfortable on warmer days. If you mainly cycle in autumn and spring, choose the Thermal 2. If you mainly cycle in summer with long sleeves for sun protection, the Espresso 2 LS is the better choice.
What’s in the zipped fourth pocket of the Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 jersey?
Nothing, as standard: The fourth pocket is a small zipped pocket alongside the three regular back pockets. It offers ideal storage for your keys, money or other small valuables that you would rather not carry in an open pocket.
Is the Castelli Espresso Thermal 2 cycling jersey tight or loose-fitting?
The Espresso Thermal 2 has a close-to-body fit, which means it sits snugly on your body for aerodynamics and warmth, but is not tight or restrictive due to the excellent elasticity of the fabric.
